Consultant Creative Director

Salary: £250 to £350 per day

Reports to: CEO

Location: Somerset House, London



Choose Love is a communications-driven organisation. Our creative communications are what make it possible for us to continue to respond quickly and flexibly to the ever-changing contexts our partners work in all over the world. We rely on our ability to share news, updates, and actions that our audience can take to show their support for and solidarity with people who have been forcibly displaced. The Consultant Creative Director role will be at the heart and forefront of this mission.


Work with the Communications team, day to day on:

● Quickly come up with and, either make or oversee the production of creative content relating to important events and news, and other cultural moments
● Find new, interesting, and engaging ways to talk about the work we do, the partners we support, and drive donations through this engagement
● Help shift the focus of content across social channels to reels and TikTok, by creating templates/frameworks for content going forward
● Help find new ways to tell the stories of people with lived experience of forced displacement – ways that can shift perceptions, break down barriers and work towards the change we want to see in the world

Work with senior management and ELT on:

● Longer-term, strategic communications plans, keeping in mind the need for Choose Love to be forward-thinking and leading the way in creative comms in the sector
● Bigger creative campaign ideas throughout the year
● Representing / promoting Choose Love in media interviews

Work with Content Production Director within Choose Love shop:

The Choose Love shop campaign is what allows us to ensure we can provide all the additional support needed each winter, as the temperature drops. Innovative content is going to be a crucial part of this year’s campaign as we must reach new audiences and, in particular, grow our reach and audience base in the US.

● Lead the shop team on creative ideation around reinvigorating the Choose Love shop campaign using film, activations, and partnerships
● Create briefs, according to timings on the production schedule and where appropriate, video guides, for video and photographic content focusing on:
1. The products
2. Winter context
3. The physical store
4. Talent
5. Merch
● Overseeing the production of films – including budgeting, scripting (where appropriate), filming, editing and sound, ensuring they’re delivered in a timely manner and provided in the correct formats for all uses required
● Providing extra support and guidance (over Zoom/calls) to partners, if needed, in order to ensure content is of a high enough standard
● Possible content gathering trip(s) to visit partners, depending on schedule
● Work closely with the partnerships and comms team to build out a campaign content plan to build in storytelling and educational elements
● Attend monthly (or bi-monthly) planning meetings, ideally in person, at the Choose Love office, in the run-up to the shop, as required and, depending on the schedule
● Attend weekly Choose Love shop check-ins, as needed and when possible
● Attend launch event
● Participate in press interviews as appropriate, depending on schedule
● When possible, especially in the cases of last-minute VIP visits or opportunities, be on-hand to capture suitable content

• Interested and engaged in the issues of forced migration and humanitarian response strongly preferred
• Self-starter with proven ability to take direction and work independently, using initiative
• Excellent writing, editing, grammatical, and analytical skills
• Capable and willing to be flexible and move from one project to another as need dictates, with a focus on reactive or short-term work
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks while ensuring quality output
• Acute attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple projects
• Proven ability to oversee a wide portfolio of projects and manage multiple competing deadlines
• Ability and strong desire to work collaboratively
