We are thrilled to announce our new collaboration with the incredible Jane Porter, who is using her award-winning horticulture skills to create the very first Choose Love Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower in May 2023!
This will be a garden like no other. Lovingly designed by Jane Porter (Gold-Medal Winner at the Chelsea Flower Show 2022) and funded by Project Giving Back, the Choose Love Garden is inspired by refugee migration routes across Europe and the concept of desire lines – paths we create when no formal routes exist.
Jane Porter’s design speaks to the relationship between travel and home. It includes a wind-activated kinetic sculpture, which conveys the uncertainty of the lives of displaced people, and a dry-stream bed path representing waterway migrations.
This incredible garden will be full of blossoming colourful flowers, as well as herbs originating from the Middle East, Afghanistan, and the Mediterranean, some of which will have been grown by refugee gardeners living in the UK!
When the RHS Chelsea Flower Show ends, The Choose Love Garden will be relocated to Good Food Matters, a community food learning centre, with a communal garden and kitchen based in Croydon. Here, the Choose Love Garden will continue to inspire connection as a space to meet, talk and forge friendships.
With its thoughtful design, the Choose Love Garden represents a new way of starting conversations about an incredibly important topic in the world today. What better way to spread the Choose Love message while showcasing the beauty of the world around us?
We can’t wait to see the Choose Love Garden in full bloom at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show next summer!
