December update! Here’s what we’ve been able to do with your donations…

Since the Choose Love Shop opened…

We’ve seen lots of your lovely faces come through our doors and shop online. And, lots of wonderful people like you have bought essential supplies and life-changing services from our shop. Your generosity has been incredible!

Thanks to your donations, in the last few weeks we’ve raised thousands of pounds for refugees and displaced people across the globe. During the week of Black Friday, we reached our $100,000 match fund target, which meant we received an extra $100,000 from a generous donor. This will be used to fund our partners working on the ground across the world this winter.

So, we wanted to tell you what your generosity has achieved so far!

Here are some of the amazing things that our fantastic partners have been able to do in just the last few weeks…

In Italy, our incredible partner, Baobab Experience, provides vital assistance to asylum seekers who have just arrived in the country. In Rome, they set up a welcome point for refugees and displaced people and provided them with essential supplies and mental and physical support.

In the last few weeks, thanks to your donations, we sent £8000 to Baobab Experience for essential supplies including blankets, sleeping bags, warm winter clothing, children coats and washing essentials to help keep refugees and asylum seekers warm.

Our wonderful partner, SAWA, provides much-needed support for Syrian refugees living in Lebanon. They work in camps across the country, running schools for children, who would otherwise struggle to access education.

During recent weeks, your donations funded £5550 worth of crucial fuel, which will be used to keep SAWA’s schools warm, so that the children can keep learning this winter!

In the UK, our amazing partner Bloody Good Period fights for the rights of all people who menstruate, this includes refugees and asylum seekers for whom period products often become unaffordable ‘luxuries’. As part of their work, the Bloody Good Period team distributes period products to refugees and asylum seekers who desperately need them.

Thanks to your donations, in the last couple of weeks, we’ve been able to give £5000 to Bloody Good Period to distribute women’s supplies and period products to displaced people across the UK!

In Greece, when asylum seekers receive their refugee status, they often lose access to any kind of formal support. This leaves thousands of vulnerable people in insecure and often dangerous situations without basic access to necessities. Our incredible partner, Lighthouse Relief, offers support on the ground for these individuals, supplying them with hot food and other essential items, and connecting them with services that will help them get back on their feet.

In the last few weeks, your donations funded Lighthouse Relief with £1800, to spend on the distribution of vital food packs for vulnerable refugees in Athens over the winter.

We’re always amazed by what choosing love can do!

If you want to keep on sending essential supplies and life-changing interventions to displaced people across the world, head to our Choose Love Shop today!

The Choose Love Shop is BACK

The Choose Love Shop is BACK

The Choose Love Shop is BACK

Drum roll, please.

The Choose Love Store is now officially…

OPEN!

That’s right. We’ve gone and done it again. This November, for the 6th time, we’ve relaunched our infamous Choose Love Shop.

The Choose Love Shop is a store like no other – where you can buy essential supplies and life-saving interventions for refugees and displaced people across the globe.

This year the refugee crisis has reached new records, with more than 100 million people estimated to be displaced worldwide. The cost of food and fuel has increased globally and the invasion of Ukraine has displaced millions.

The winter also brings with it freezing temperatures, which makes access to heating fuel, warm clothes, and shelter essential.

We know you want to help. We do too.

This year, alongside vital items like hot food, life-saving medical treatment, and long-term accommodation, we’ve added items such as Disability Support, Heating Fuel, and Evacuations to make sure people can get the help they need right now.

All funds raised from the shop go to supporting displaced people from all over the world, including working in Greece, on the US/Mexico border as well as supporting our Ukraine Emergency Response.

Since we began in 2015, our one-of-a-kind shop has gained the support of big names such as Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, Carey Mulligan, and Michael Cain.

Watch this video to see exactly why they’re choosing to stand with us.

Join them today and purchase our life-changing items at www.Choose.Love, or visit our shops in London and New York.

For those of you in the UK, come and visit us at 15-17 Foubert’s Place W1F 7QB. Our doors are already open.

If you’re based in New York, we’re launching soon! Our in-person store will be opening soon, details to be announced shortly!

We can’t wait to see you all there.

“Woman, Life, Freedom”: Solidarity with the People of Iran

“Woman, Life, Freedom”: Solidarity with the People of Iran

The world has been watching Iran as anti-Regime protests have intensified following the death of Jina (Mahsa) Amini. Mahsa was a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman on a family trip. She tragically died in the custody of Iran’s morality police, a wing of police that enforces mandatory hijab on Iranian women.

Since her death on September 16th, the people of Iran are courageously demanding freedom of choice, chanting: women, life, freedom! We have seen nationwide and global protests against the Regime in Iran. People in Iran are risking their lives to fight for the fundamental freedom of choice! Many inside and outside the country have been cutting their hair and burning headscarves in solidarity with women fighting a repressive and discriminatory regime.

In response, Iranian authorities have deployed security forces to halt and control these protests. The authorities use tear gas, live ammunition, batons, tasers, and water cannons on non-violent protestors. Hundreds of people have been detained, hundreds have been injured, and dozens have been killed. The exact numbers are unconfirmed due to a lack of coverage by independent investigative reports and internet shutdowns!

Instagram and WhatsApp, two of the last remaining international platforms in Iran, have been restricted. Mobile networks have also been disrupted, being shut off from evening till morning. The Regime is attempting to prevent footage of the realities of the protests, silencing many that have experienced intense police brutality.

We uphold the right to freedom and believe everyone can decide how they want to live. We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran and send our love to those who courageously step up for current and future generations!

Support the people of Iran with 3 simple yet powerful acts – which take less than 5 minutes!

1) Signing the Amnesty petition:

One of the most important calls to action is to call for a United Nations investigative mechanism for Iran to ensure there is no impunity for Mahsa Jina Amini’s killing.

2) Donate to these trusted Iranian human rights organizations:

3) Follow leading voices in- and outside of Iran:

  • Masih Alinejad, campaigner against mandatory hijab (@AlinejadMasih)

  • Nazanin Boniadi, actor and activist (@NazaninBoniadi)

  • Gissou Nia, human rights lawyer (@GissouNia)

  • Roya Boroumand, co-founder of the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center (@RoyaBoroumand)

  • Mahsa Alimardani, internet freedom researcher (@maasalan)

  • Golnaz Esfandiari, reporter, covering Iran for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (@GEsfandiari)

  • Holly Dagres, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council (@hdagres)
